Thanks for the welcome

Hello Marde
thank you for taking time and welcoming me to the site [and that goes
for everyone else too.
Yes my husband is a good one in many ways and the smoking issues I
have are not really his fault. I have had a little chat to him this
morning and told him that if he wants to talk to me then it is better
for me if he comes into the living room [where there is no smoking
going on] He was a little suprised to hear me say that I associate
the table in the dining room [where we eat, and he sits there to
watch tv] to times when I used to sit and smoke with him there after
a meal. He did say he was suprised I thought that way as he assumed I
was coping so well.
Any way he did actually praise me and told me how well I was doing so
that is a start.
Haven’t spoken to him today though only in passing as we were doing

different things this morning and unfortunately football was on tv
this afternoon!!!! And I don’t even try to chat when he is watching
sports on tv.
Thanks for the chat to everyone else I enjoyed it.
congratulations Marde on your three weeks how are you coping with it?
I find reading the cognitive quit process a big help and am going to
try to work on this in stead of supressing the feelings/urges to the
back of my mind using the will power method alone. As I have proved
to myself in the past I can only get by on will power alone for a
certain time before I cave in.
Don’t be to shy about posting
the people here on this site appear to be very friendly and
welcoming.
all the best
sue

    Hi everyone
And thanks for a lovely warm welcome. This seems like a lovely group
to me - I feel at home straight away. Thanks for letting me join you
    all.

    Hi Annie and Susan,
Thankyou for welcoming me. I’m so glad I found this site and I have
been reading all the information, it seems a whole new approach that i
    think will help me.
I read Allen Carr’s book years ago but wasnt ready to quit, I remember
him saying in the book that it was easy if you had the right attitude,
so that’s how I want to do it. Understanding the reasons why and how to
cope is going to make it easier.
I have downloaded and printed out the various documents on Steves
    website.
I feel a whole lot more confident now that I have joined the group that
I have decided to quit as of one hour ago. I put a full ashtry into a
jar just to remind myself of the horrible smell. I screwed up and threw
away 10 cigs, washed the ash trays sprayed the whole house.
    So I have quit…

I’m fairly happy at the moment, please bear with me if I deteriorate LOL
    Peace and Love
    Chrys

Chrys, DO start the timer exercise
right away, it is going to make all of
the difference for you.. you will thrive,
    rather than deteriorate. Annie

days are harder than others, but keeping the mind alert and aware of
the real needs of my body helps.
