Getting the last word in……….

Saturday, April 12th, 2003

…..well, I did, as at 11.35pm GMT :) Great chat tonight, Cat and Indi, really enjoyed that. And glad to
see you throwing yourself into cogquitting Frank - it’s a heck of a
ride, you’ll enjoy it.
Talking about the rogues gallery (which we weren’t - but I am now) -
there’s a place to post your pic on your Profile. Frank started it
off, and I followed, so c’mon the rest of you …..
nite all

Hey, Frank!

Friday, April 11th, 2003

Frank, I read your posts. I think you have a good chance at getting
your quit. You seem to be going through enough anguish. God knows, I
surely cannot give anyone credit unless they have suffered as much as
I. After all, I am among those who disregard those who give up smokes
and say ‘no problem, it was easy’. What a bunch of hogwash. The
amazing part of cogquit is that you learn that, after all the other
quits, thinking about what you’re doing may be the key. To heck with
quitting only to live with the never-ending urges/cravings. That’s no
way to live happily ever after.
Anyway, follow Pam and Indi’s suggestions. They know what they’re
talking about. Make your lists, refer to them often. Ask questions.
Maybe we can help. I hope so. I sincerely do. Quitting smokes is
probably the most important thing I’ve done for myself in this life.
Let’s hear from you (heck, I could use another project).

Kinda quiet in here……

….so I thought I’d call in a have a bit of a ramble. Hopefully
people will start coming back in more now that Thanksgiving
celebrations and family gatherings are drawing to a close. How’s
everyone getting along with their quits? Hope you’re doing ok Lynne,
and have got your mindset fixed and a new date set. Indi gave you
some great advice and tips there, so follow those and you won’t go
far wrong.
I had a lovely day out today, and now getting myself organised for a
busy week ahead at work. Even though it was cold and windy, we had a
great long walk along the beach and it really blew away a few cobwebs
and gave me some much needed thinking time. No Florida sunshine for
me ;) Mind you I am seriously thinking about heading for a hot sunny
beach for Christmas - me, my suntan oil, a few good books and a sun
shade. More on that later….
Nothing more to add really - am looking forward to reading more posts

I have attached what I call
“30 wise thoughts to ponder”
These are excerpts from the book “Ashes to Ashes” that a friend shared with me.
I plan to write these on index cards and keep them in my purse and also may post
them around the house, smile
We can do this!!!!

Sorry I can’t make it as planned. Flying visit to apologise - life
is somewhat complicated at the moment, but I’ll try later on.

Oops (Its okay) - Lynne

Hi Lynne
Sorry to hear things went from bad to worse, been thinking and maybe you
should totally reassess yourself. It seems to be that you are doing the same
thing over and over and of course you are gonna get the same results.
You keep setting your quit date, then you give in then you feel bad about
yourself and round and round it goes.
So what about this - set a preparation date - lets say Sunday (just as an
example).
Before the preparation date think about this.
You are free to smoke any time you want - no one can stop you smoking, so
long as you are capable of getting your cigs then other than being locked up
you are the one who decides whether or not you smoke.
Ok that is number one - you have the freedom to choose.
You have decided you want to quit - write a list of the benefits to you of
quitting - the benefits need to be what you feel/think (not what someone else
