Snacks at Work
I have found to rely on the old quit standby, sunflower seeds. When I first
started out, I would have a pile out on my desk just about the whole time I was
at work. It wasn’t that I was eating so many of them, but they were there if I
felt like I need to do something with my hands besides type. I know cracking
them with my front teeth is not exactly the best thing for my teeth right now
but I figure it’s better than smoking. I’m at the point now where I get a
little pile of them out about twice a day. If you don’t care for fruit to
snack on, how about fruit juice. Great natural energizer. Or dried fruit. I
snacked off dried banana chips the first two weeks of my quit.
As far as working through lunch, bad girl!! Now, that I’ve said that, I guess
I should slap my own hand because there’s many days I do the same thing. But
I’ll tell you what, the days that I make myself do something other than sit at
my desk and eat lunch, usually I feel much better at the end of the day,
stronger, not as stressed out. Even if I take a 15 minute break, it makes a
difference.
My nickel’s worth (inflation).

you get the dehulled ones silly!!!!!! bananas are good, sliced apple is good
but it goes brown quickly - really Marde the best of all are the almond nuts
- they are full of protein, good for your feel good factor in brain, quite
filling so you can’t eat too many of them, take a bit of chewing (especially
when you have no teeth like me) and on and on.
In regards to you being an outcast well thats me too - at work I am the only
female there are no breaks as such people just grab a coffee or a cig while
they are working, I don’t drink, I don’t get to see much of my grandchildren
and don’t have a very hectic social life - go out with friends for a meal or
a show once in a while.
But then guess there are millions of people like that and they don’t
smoke!!!!!!

Um, actually, I buy the ones that are still in the shell, more work to get it
open, more time spent doing something with my hands and less sunflower seeds
eaten (loaded with fat).
Actually, it’s kind of funny because, as some of you know, I tend to stay at
work rather late some nights. The night cleaning crew comes around and kid me
(mostly in Spanish which makes it even funnier) about all the sunflower seeds
around my desk on the floor. Try as I might, I end up missing the trash can
every once in a while. I try to remember to clean them up myself before I leave
but sometimes they catch me before I leave. They just shake their heads, smile
and bring over the vaccuum cleaner.
Whoops, daughter ready to go to flea market…see ya!
