... town for a week or so. Heading to Arizona for mom's 92nd Bday. Spoke
with her tonight and found out Tucson is expecting a couple inches of snow.
What the hell is that about? Toronto has barely seen snow this winter. Oh
well. :( I'm still packing shorts and sandles.
I won't be online as much though I will be reading the posts.
Y'all behave yerselves, see ya

Hi Becky. I know she is proud of you too. I am sorry for your great
loss.
Linda
--- In CognitiveQuitSmoking@y..., "Becky aka Chennoa" <chennoa@c...
know how I am doing. I work full time and also I enrolled in college
so my time has been limited both in reading and in posting but I had
a rather significant life event happen and really needed to post it.
10 years old when she came to live with us. My Mom hired her to take
care of us when we were kids. She lived with us until I was 17 and I
moved out to get married. She became a school teacher and was living
was us while she did that. She became my "big sis" in more ways than
one. Over the years she has lived 4 houses up and has not only been a
friend but my kids and grandkids schoolteacher. She used to baby-sit
for me and she was always the one I went to when things were rough.
She knew what to say to get me to " come around"
<!--more-->
smoker. She was really proud of me for quitting. Actually she said
she about had a heart attack cause NO ONE thought Becky would EVER
quit. :))))) Well she had a heart attack but not cause I quit
smoking. She was only 58. Very young indeed to be leaving this earth
but she died quickly and therefore suffered no pain. She came to my
house 6 weeks ago and rekindled in me an old desire to be a
schoolteacher. I am 46 and thought perhaps it was a little too late
for me to go back to school but she persisted and I finally went up
and registered and am in my third week of classes. I never got back
over to tell her but somehow I know that she knows.
this all out and in all of this tragedy and hurt I never once thought
of a cigarette. I was so proud of myself. I did my ABC's for when
something like this was to happen and I went into automatic mode or
something because everything I wrote down I did. I know she is proud
of me and now she has taught me to be proud of myself. I am gonna
miss her.

Becky,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Sounds like she really was family, in some
ways more than blood relatives can be family. I'm sure she's very proud of
you.

Wow! Thank you Becky. This is an instance where you proved to yourself
that you can experience life intensely and without a cigarette. You've
really done well. I'm sure proud of you.

How sad for you to lose someone so young in your "family." How proud
she would be to know, with her help and influence, how strong you've
become in both your quit and in taking the steps necessary to fulfill
your dream of becoming teacher.
Becky, I hope your wonderful memories of your friend help in your
healing.
