Carla and day 2

Wednesday, March 31st, 2004

Just wondering how day 2 has gone for you today. I did post earlier - maybe
it’ll show up later on. In fact I seem to have spent ages today trying to get
something to post.
As we’re in the same time zone and may coincide when we’re online, maybe you’d
like to chat some time? My ICQ is 142898919, so add me onto your list when you
get chance.
take care

Perhaps some part of me thought I might have found an “honourable” way
to quit the quit!!! (though I had not been aware of looking for one)
Feel back on track today - (d/l will have to find her own way)
I am going back to thinking about lists……… :) Jean

Wanting Something - really long and rambling

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

I guess the point is that Steve was ALWAYS telling me to be patient,
that I was doing fine, it was just going to take time and, lo and
behold, he was right! It does take time.<
Hi All
This post is in response to the posts that were going on
about ‘wanting something’ or the ‘big hole thing’. It’s very long
and not sure that it makes a lot of sense but it has really helped me
get some things sorted in my head. So if you’ve got time to spare
pull up a chair, grab a coffee and see what you make of it.

Just thought I would put my two pennorth in on this one. Cat wrote
that she and I talked about this feeling as being a ‘hole’. For me
it was really, really bad and I had the most horrendous physical
feeling inside. Nothing would seem to fill it!! Not breathing, not

For Jean - My attempt at one liners

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

Hi Jean
I seem to remember your granddaughter shouting out of car window
about
you having quit - how would you feel if she shouted out about you
giving up on your quit???
If you give up your quit it won’t change anything about your DIL’s
quit
- having been in your DIL’s shoes it won’t even change her thinking
to
see you as a failure too!!!
The benefits of quitting health wise might not apply to any of us -
it
could be that we all have some smoking related disease lurking away
ready to pounce but there are loads of other benefits to quitting
other

Sunday, March 21st, 2004

Hey all,
This week turning into one of those where sometime Tuesday you realize
you’re already behind for the week and it doesn’t look like you’re going to
catch up. :( I wanted to add my 4 cents to the ‘hole’ thread. I’ll try to
sit for 5 when I get home tonight.
See y’all,

Surrounded by Smokers

Saturday, March 20th, 2004

We had a beautiful day here in NC yesterday. Unfortunately, hubby and I
watched the Weather Channel instead of the local weather and thought
that rain storms would be heading in late afternoon. We had a motorcyle
meeting about 3 hours away and ended up driving the car instead of
getting on the bikes!!! The best friggin’ riding day of the year so far
and we were in a stupid car all day! Barely a drop of rain, mostly sun
sun sun!!!
Then we get to the meeting. There were probably about 60 people there
and about 2/3 of them smoked! I sat for 4 hours in a smoke-filled room.
At first, I thought ‘oh boy, this is going to be hard’. Then I made
myself think about what I should be doing to face this. I started to
look around at the smokers, noticing the pinched looks on their faces as
they sucked in the nicotine to relieve their addiction, I started
noticing the coughing, the rasping smokers’ cough! Ewwww, that was me a
few months ago. Well, who am I fooling, that’s still me at times cuz I’m

Friday, March 19th, 2004

The growth of my quit and the evolution of Cognitive Quitting have been
intertwined from the beginning. As this Ides of March wraps up, I want to
thank all of you who have joined CognitiveQuitSmoking. On this anniversary,
to be able to share both my quit and my obsession with all of you is a
blessing I hadn’t expected.
Thank you :) Steve

ddsteve - Six Years!!

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

Hey, Steve, congrats on your six years of being smokefree. I’ll bet
it seems like forever since you’ve had a stinky coffin nail in your
mouth.
So, what’s your secret? How’d you do it? Huh?
HAHAHAHAHA - just kidding. I really have been paying attention.
Geez, I crack myself up…

Sneaking Those Smokes

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

Since we seem to be into sneaking the smokes stories today, I wanted to tell
you about a few weeks at the dinner table when my daughter, hubby, and I were
finishing up dinner and they were talking about taking the truck down to
Rockingham the next day. DH’s best friend was going also, and is a heavy
smoker. DH was going on about how his friend would not be allowed to smoke in
his truck, that no-one was ever allowed to smoke in his truck, that no-one HAD
ever smoked in his truck. You have to understand that my DH had his nose broke
many years ago in seven places. His sniffer is still broken in many instances
although he denies it. My daughter just looked at him and finally said, ‘Dad,
someone’s been smoking in your truck for years.’ Well, he got that indignant
look on his face and said ‘no way!’ Well, the jig was up so I fessed. I told
him that I had smoked in his truck just about every time I got in it (alone of
course) with the windows rolled down so the stink wouldn’t be too bad.
Obviously my daughter could smell it but he couldn’t. My daughter and I ended
up practically rolling on the floor laughing cuz I kept saying ‘I’m SO sorry, I
