Chatting

Just did this post and lost it because I resized the page -
GGGRRRRR!!!
Anyway, the gist of the post was that Marde, Pam, and I were chatting
earlier on MSN IM. We talked about a lot of things like gardening
(Gail, we missed you in this one), and digital cameras and men and all
sorts of good stuff. After at least 45 minutes, we said our goodbyes.
I realized a little while later that not once had the topic of smoking
come up. I just thought it was pretty neat that we had all gotten to
the stage where we could have a Normal Non-Smokers conversation. - OK,
I mentioned this to Steve and he questioned the Normal part, probably
because I was involved but you know what I’m saying. Anyway, just a
simple observation in our “growing up” process.

PS - Just to be clear, I do like talking about smoking (hell, I like to
talk about just about anything) so if anyone wants to talk about it

then just ping me…I was just trying to make the point that there
really is life after quitting. Clear as mud?

    Cat - you said
You’re right - not one mention of cigs in our chat. I hadn’t even
realised that! :) non-smokers having a normal conversation, of course. And very
    normal ones at that…

Good for you I hope I’m there soon too! In the mean time 4 hours with MIL no
booze no cigs! Decided not to let things bother me, I’m in my own little cog
    world…bobbie

  3. Neva Marjory Says:

Good. Now YOU to an ABC concerning MIL…let me know if you need
help. How about this for a start…
    A. Event - MIL is (choose one)
    * taking over the kitchen
    * treating DH like a mama’s boy
    * criticizing my furniture/pets/hairstyle/cleaning
    * or whatever
    B. Beliefs - list some options and your beliefs concerning them.
    C. Response - Choose one of the options from B. and tell us why you
    chose it.
Now you have homework and an excuse to get away from MIL for a
while. Tell her I gave you work to do.

PS, for those of you who are new, Bobbie is my sister and I’ve always
been the bossy one. So if you’re thinking, oh gawd, is she going to

give me work too? Well, hmmm, maybe.

Ok I agree and I’ll work on this..just give me a few days I’m not real good
    at this yet…bobbie

    Hello,
I have a big nervous breakdown and I am taking “Prozac”.
I see now that I have written, very aggressive and really silly
    messages to the group.
I stopped my pills for sleeping and didn’t sleep for 2 days the day I
wrote those messages. In addition I was very excited because this day
my father had an accident and I had to drive him to an hospital.
Usually I am a very gentle guy, I still don’t understand why I wrote
    those silly messages.
    Please forgive me.

    Michael

Hey, Michael. That’s OK. I just wanted you to understand the
purpose of the group by reading the posts and Steve’s website. I
guess we’ve turned into a very protective group. And I hope you will
want to become part of our group.
Good to hear from you. Post again soon and let us know how you’re
    doing on your quit.

Ditto from me Michael. Sorry to hear your having a rough patch - a
quit is hard enough work without other issues to deal with as well.
Keep reading all the posts and over at Steve’s site - and check out
those files on the group’s page.
    Glad you’re still with us
    take care
    Pam

    Hi Michael,
I hope things are starting to turn around for you.
Please keep reading the list. Consider working out an ABC or two and
    join in.

I think it’s “controllable” because of how you’ve been dealing with
those old remnant patterns. You’ll find that as long as you are continue to
use the same tools that have worked so far, you will continue to be in
control. Mean while, you’ll carry on through the stages that make up a quit.
I know exactly what you mean. I’m sensitive to airborne particles also.
Katie, say hello to your cilia. As smokers, the nicotine and tar in the
smoke drastically reduced their ability to preform their job which is to
help eliminate any particle impurities that are in the air we draw into our
air passages. If I’m not too mistaken, cilia play a very important role in
helping keep us healthy. Anyone have any more detailed info on cilia?
Early congrats on your 16 weeks :) Steve
