making it
This ‘poll’ is being taken on the quit smoking site at about.com
“At what point do you “have it made”?”
three months?
six months?
a year?
two years?
never?
I wonder how this would be answered here. How do you folks think this plays
out?

I am waiting on pins and needles for the answer on this one! I am at
two weeks today. Where should I put the big reward sticker on my
calendar? LOL.

I just put July 23′rd on my calendar, Cat! If that isn’t the magical
date, then I’m halfway to your six months!

When I first saw the poll I wasn’t that sure what the Forum host was
actually asking - I took it that she meant when we felt pretty
certain the quit was secure. I went and checked out the results of
this poll - 26 people out of the 33 that had voted (around 3pm EST)
had said `never’ which didn’t surprise me. I think a lot of
quitters just hang in there with clenched teeth, and feel they’ve
got to be `on guard’ forever more. That’s the big difference - cog
quitters learn about their smoking behaviour, how to decode the
triggers, and how to put permanent non smoking responses in place.
If I had to be `on guard’ forever more in case something `made’ me
smoke again, I think I’d pack in my quit now!
