More to the newbies/Brenda

Hi Brenda
Cat and I were chatting earlier on about our previous attempts at quitting.
I was saying that, over the years, I’d had many attempts - I think the
longest I ever lasted was about 4 or 5 days. Each time it was a grim affair
a real ‘hanging on by the fingernails’ thing. I kept doing the same old
thing every time, and never tried anything different. So I got the same
results every time - running off to buy smokes. I never understood why I
was smoking, never looked beyond the ‘I always smoke when I feel like this’.
This time, I knew I needed to do something different - and found cognitive
quitting. First thing I did was work out just exactly why I was quitting,
and get some Foundation statements in place. I then sat down making some
lists about when and where I smoked, and why I was smoking. How was I
feeling? What physical sensations was I trying to relieve? What else might
help, be more appropriate than a cig?
What can you do to do it differently? How’s about starting with a few lists

of those times/places/reasons? Just becoming more aware can be a good
start.

(Brenda )…….oh man i am have a tough time lolol. I bought a pack, and i
realise each time i smoke means i have to go thru that dreaded day 3
clearing again
I don’t know how i am going to do this, but i will get thru it. I am
thinking on trying divine intervention next :) there wasnt even a real trigger, I just got tired of fighting it off. Back
on the wagon again though, wish me luck.
Brenda
