ABC for work
Hi all,
here is another one of my ABC, this time for work as I am having most trouble at
work to not smoke dealing with a specific issue where I am pretty sure it will
come up first thing Monday morning.
A - one of my guys booked of or quit, now I have open shifts to cover
B - how am I going to cover the shift okay lets have a smoke first and my
brain will come up with something
C - go for a smoke
B1 - okay if I smoke do I get the schedule done no,
yes I will feel better when I smoke for five minutes but then what
once my guys give me ten excuses why they can not stay or work that shift I get
frustated
anyway either smoking or not, so might as well don’t smoke, sit down
and look at the schedule and calculate who has the least overtime, take a deep
breath,
go outside do a perimeter check, just call one person and if feel
angry don’t call the next one, just go another for a perimeter check and than go
back to
scheduling,
try not to get angry at the guards, don’t take it personal they have a
life too if nobody agrees to it my boss can handle it
C1 - take a deep breath in and out
- sit donw to look at a schedule and see who can cover the shift
- if angry cause of the book of don’t do scheduling right a way go first for a
perimeter check until I calmed down
- do some stretches to release the neck pain
- think positive and don’t take it pesonal, they have a life too and different
priorities
Physical Feeling:
restless
hard time to concentrate
feeling like running away from it
high energy
butterflys in the stomach
headache and neck pain as I am pulling my shoulders up
I hope this ABC will work. Warren has to learn that one very fast as it is
almost something happening on a daily basis and as better I learn to deal with
the situation as easier part of my job will be. This is something stressing me
out where it shouldn’t.
take care

Hi Carmen,
Looks good. Only one thing I’d add and I put that at the beginning of
you B1. Hope it helps.
The very first thing I will do is pull out this ABC and read it so I will
be ready to deal with my physical sensations as they happen. THEN I will
deal with the scheduling mess.
