Hi Im New/Gill

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

Hi Pam,
Two years ago I met you in some chat room and we talked a bit. I’d like
to believe that some of what I said made sense because tomorrow you’ll
celebrate 2 yrs cognitively quit. Very very well done Pam :))
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the hours
you’ve given to helping make our site as informative and effective as it
is. I especially want to thank you for all the help and heart you’ve given
to so many quitters who needed an ABC tweaked, an ear to listen to their
confusion, and a clear head to set them back on track.
Pam, this group wouldn’t be the success it is without your help.
Thank you and congratulations :) Steve

Think about it

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

Hello All!
I am so sorry to hear about the tragedy. I know someone who went through
chemo for ovarian ca. Blessed be that she is alive and somewhat well. She just
has a setback wwith her kidneys. Once that sh** hits, there’s no tellig what
the journey will be like. I know someof our group has had chemo. I joined just
as they were starting. I wish everyone well.
Remember what Leslie told me to tell myself, this puff might be the one
that starts the ca. You can work it into your ABC’s or use it as an emergency
phrase if you ae on B and the situation is already at m or y… just a LOL for a
bad situation.
I hope I can keep my quit. I haven’t chatted since my legs were swelling,
so I am not prepared for my current and upcoming situation. My doc is being a
bi*** and refusing to act within the insurance policies and my surgery is coming
up and my daughter, who is a smoker, is coming to visit. The last scares me the
most. I have been in a non-smoking environment for the most. Outside of Target

To Janice

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Hi Janice,
I’ve got to echo what Pam said. “Doing the work actively is key in
a cognitive quit”
I’m not much for lists either, at least not on an ongoing basis. But
initially, one time, they really do ‘imprint’ the data as only
actually writing it out can. I’m referring to the 3 lists, the
Foundation Statements, at least one day using a timer, and 2 or 3 ABCs
(enough to get the ABC structure correctly set up).

Roll Call

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Hi Steve,
I’m doing fine and passed my first month mark on 2/15. Hubby will be
there on 2/19. I have found another site that advocates only cold
turkey quits, which is how we believe it should be done….so with
the help of abc’s which I learned here and reading about the actual
nicotine addiction and dealing with that, I’ve been doubly blessed by
online web sites. FYI, Warren has told me he actually LIKES our new
routines!
The JD’s in KC
Judy has been nicotine free for: 1 Month 1 Day 7 Hours and has NOT
smoked 1454 smelly cigs, for a savings of $243.64 plus life prolonged
by: 5 Days 1 Hour 10 Minutes.
John has been nicotine free for: 4 Weeks 20 Hours and has NOT smoked
173 cigars, for a savings of $144.19.

Please help with my ABC for driving

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Hi all,
I had to drive this weekend, when I was told on Satturday to drive the car I
wasn’t preprared for it at all and actually totally forgot about it so I had no
ABC in place and with this one I was not able to do it on the fly eihter. To say
no I am not driving was not an option.
After we came back on Saturday night to Trenton and everyone else went for a
drink or relaxing time I sat down and made ABC for the event I get the car keys
again and have to drive. without screwing it up again. (smoking) To drive a car
is not one of my favourite things to do and causes me fear at all times, the
only way to calm down before I got in the car was smoking, worked great all the
time. I don’t have to worry about smoking while driving cause I can not drive
with one hand only and have no cravings at all.
As I know I need lots of driving experience so I asked if I can drive back and I
drove back from Trenton to Toronto (about 250km) but this morning I did not
smoke I had my ABC in place it kind of worked but not to great, Warren was back

How’s everyone?/ Joni

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Joni,
I can only echo Pam’s suggestions, stay in close contact with your Dr. If
the meds you’re using now don’t seem to be helping, maybe some different
antidepressants are needed, or maybe dosages need to me adjusted. Again,
your Dr is the one to make those determinations.
