My first ABC
Hi Everyone,
Here is my first ABC: I picked the hardest first…
A. Driving to and from work
B. I do enjoy driving. It make me feel tense and stressed because of
the many aggressive drivers now days. I am afraid someone will hit my
car or cause me to hit them. I also feel anxious to get to work or
especially to get home and though I drive safely - my body feels all
the tension on the inside. Before I use to smoke alot when I drove
because it helped pass the time on my 40 min. commute and relieved
some of the stress. It gave me something else to focus on besides my
nervousness. I want to smoke while I drive.
C. Since smoking is no longer an option for me when I drive, I will
bring along some water or juice to sip on. I will also get some books
on tape to listen to and/or put on some relaxing music to help with
the stress. I know I will still be bothered by other drivers, but I
will not consider smoking, as smoking will not change other drivers
habits.
Am I close? This is a big one for me - and I really want to be as
prepared as possible. Any and all help/feedback would be most
appreciate….Thanks to all!!

I want to send this one before I write anymore so I wont write a
bunch of bad ones. My biggest concern right now is my husband is
coming in from over the road on my quit date. I am always finding
excuses to move it back and don’t want to do that anymore so here
goes.
My husband will be home on my quit date and will be here smoking for
four days…
A. My shoulders, neck and jaw will tighten; my mind will see and feel
me lighting a cigarette, my throat and lungs will feel the inhale
my heart rate and breathing will increase, my lungs will feel the
inhale and once my mind realizes none of the inhaling is really
happening, my heart rate and breathing will increase, my hands
will tremble and my eyes will water making my face wet as the
rest of my body tenses.
B. I could light a cigarette and get a second of relief before
becoming overcome with a sense of failure or I can grab a low
calorie snack, drink a glass of water, take some slow deep
breaths and ask my husband to go outside or leave the house
myself.
C. I will grab a low calorie snack, drink a glass of water, take some
slow, deep breaths, ask my husband to go outside orleave the
house myself and do some stretches or take a walk to relieve the
tension in my body.
