Would like to join your group …
Hi …
I have been told about this site in the past, but decided to check
it out just recently. Someone who I have much respect for, ion, had
recommended this place to me.
I have been quit now for 59 days, but feel I may be slipping. I’ve
reached that period where I can’t stop thinking about that “one”
cigarette … you know the one that would make everything better,
the one nobody would ever have to know about, the one that would
reassure me that I had made the right decision to quit, the one that
would probably taste terrible.
So far I have not smoked that one … but no matter how hard I try
to stay focused, I feel myself growing weak. I need a different
approach from what I’ve been using to refocus myself again.
That’s what has brought me here. I could use any help you could
provide me with.
Thanks,
Evenstar <username @ quitnet

Hi Steve,
I just read your message - you’re right about “just one”. My sister taught me to look at how many cigs I have not smoked - it’s 1,774. So it wouldn’t be one, just one - no, it would at least 1,774. I’m thinking, “Foundation statements? more beginnings?” No, I absolutely do not want to smoke. It’s discouraging - after 59 days, all I can say is that it’s better than Day 1. And I have hours at a stretch when I don’t think about it. How long till I forget, or till it stops intruding? Ever?

Hi Evenstar,

Have you read about Warren and his job as your autopilot? (He’s not
a child or a junkie) Have you started the timer exercise?
