Timer sheets
Hello there…
The Cognitive Quitting Program makes a lot of sense. I am so tired of being a smoker, but through previous failed attempts to quit, I fear the next try. My other issue is that my husband is a smoker, with no intention of quitting. How does one balance that? Any suggestions would be appreciated. My other question is on the Timer Sheets. Do you start them as soon as you wake up in the morning, and go every hour from that time? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tracy

I have been starting the timer sheets first thing in the morning, but I find later when the timer goes off, I usually have already had a cigarette, and therefore am not craving one. Is the smoking situation for that? I’m confused, and need help. Should I wait and not have a cigarette until after filling out the timer sheet for that hour? Please advise…
Thank you,
Tracy

Hi Tracy. The puropse of completing a log is to record ’snapshots’ of your day at regular intervals - whether or not you’ve just had a smoke (or even want a smoke) isn’t a factor for deciding whether or not to record an entry. Its about becoming aware of the emotions, conditions and physical sensations that accompany events that are common to your day. Do this for at least a couple of days and post your results here, then we’ll take you on to the next steps.
