I am new to the group and I am looking forward to all the support I
can get. I just quit last night and right now I feel really
uncomfortable. I have a slight headache and really have a craving to
smoke. I have errands that I must take care of however I am afraid
that when I get into my car I will stop and get cigarettes. So here I
sit. I must leave sometime. My car is a trigger for private smoking.
Any suggestions. I currently have a nicotine patch on, I also have a
perscription for Zyban which I have sitting on the desk ready to
ingest. Help me!

I would really try to not do anything for the first 3-4 days if you can, I purposely picked my quit date as a I time that I wouldn't have to be triggered in anyway shape or form. It should be you, your mind, a bottle of waterr, and maybe some music, I prefer loud rock music, that I can sing and dance to. The first 3 days are the most physical, and painful, so why make it harder on yourself. You should follow the cognitiveQuit method. Here is why i don't like to use the patch, It seemed I was in a constant case of withdraw, and I was dragging out the pain with the patch. eventually it has to come off so I felt I was just delaying the ineveitable. But to each his own, what ever works for you.

Good Luck Mary

Smoke free cold turkey for Two days, 16 hours, 58 minutes and 8 seconds. 67 cigarettes not smoked, saving $15.23. Life saved: 5 hours, 35 minutes.

Your the only one that will ever know but your the only one you have to answer for when all is said and done driving is a trigger for me 2 driving alone for some reason is much more a trigger than driving with someone for me so I just keep being prepared by having gum mints candy pretzels i.e. anything I can grab if I need to ward off the craving and under no circumstances is a cigarette the answer to what I want I know that if I were to cheat it would only be me I am cheating and to start over again would be to face those initial withdrawal cravings which are far greater than any I'm having at the moment and I've been smoke free for a very short time 8 days of no smoking 10 days on this quit. Just keep reading and try to understand that whatever it is smoking is not gonna help anything except to make you want to smoke more hang in there others have done it and so can we Lori
