An entire clean year
Hi Steve, Pam, and my fellow former smokers–and those of you still
preparing to join us,
I just wanted to thank Steve and Pam for showing me the way to
cognitively quit smoking on February 9, 2004. It’s amazing to me
that an entire year has passed since that struggle ended.
I’d like to say that it’s all been smooth sailing since I quit
smoking, but that would be a lie…life hasn’t stopped challenging
me just because I no longer rely on nicotine. But that’s one thing
I no longer have to be challenged by, and that’s huge!
As you know, Steve, I also used Quitnet in my effort; in fact, you
and I met there. They keep a record of statistics that I really
enjoy looking at once in a while. I’ve NOT smoked nearly 19,000
cigarettes since quitting! Isn’t that amazing? No wonder we see
those nasty discarded butts EVERYWHERE! I was only one smoker!
Also according to Quitnet, I’ve saved $1953. That’s impressive
too!
I got here a day at a time. That’s how I live my life. Adding the
days together makes for progress, pride, and growth…and finally,
personal goals achieved, and success. I congratulate all of you for
your successes, and say thank you again to Steve and Pam for your
roles in mine.

Hi Barbara - good to see you again and congrats on that year quit - very
If I remember correctly, you joined the first
well done to you
Workshop Steve and I ran this time last year?
Life continues to challenge us once we quit, but learning how to
disconnect the smoking associations makes the huge difference, and means
that we’re comfortable in our quits whatever life is throwing our way.
Thanks for writing and telling our new quitters what life is like at a
year cognitively quit.
take care
Pam
