Sample ABC?

I like to sit on the porch in the morning and watch the sun come up
while I drink my coffe. I am relaxed and enjoying looking out over the
town so there is no stress or tension but that is my favorite time for
a cigarette. I tried to write an ABC for the craving today but
couldn’t think of one. Could you please help?

    How does your body feel? Define relaxed as you defined stressed yesterday.
    What is the condition of your muscles, your breathing?.
    There are the sensations we feel and then there are those that we want to
    feel. Isn’t part of sitting on the deck the expectation of experiencing
    relaxation? What do you expect to feel when you’re on the deck with a coffee?
    I think most of us have experienced something like that and can probably
    describe it. For me, relaxation with a coffee at sun up would include deep
    steady breathing, there would be a heavy comfortable feeling in my chest,
    my body is stationary and at peace. Interestingly, those sensations are
    exactly what I used to feel when I inhaled a couple of deep drags from a
    cigarette.
    Make sitting on the deck, at least for a while, a very conscious event in
    which you might be thinking…. ‘I’m following a routine that relaxes me. I
    can close my eyes and breath deeply several times. I can focus on and enjoy

    the sensations of sitting quietly. I can be appreciative that I’m in
    control of me at this moment.’
    As for the ABC, do it just like you did the others, focus on the physical
    need and how to address it. Remember, it’s always about the body… what
    are the body cues?
    I’m sitting on the deck with my coffee. Just doesn’t seem relaxing without
    a cigarette.
    A- I want to feel my muscles relaxed and at rest. I want my breathing to be
    calm and comfortable.
    B- I know that a cigarette will ‘relax’ me but I’d rather a nonsmoking
    response. I can take my coffee, sit quietly, breath deeply several times,
    feel my body sink into the chair.
    C- I’ll ….. (you decide what would work for you).
