Hi I’m new

Hi, I’m new here and on day 2 of my quit. this is the new me. the
start of the rest of my life. Day 1 was easy - i wasnt feeling well
anyway so found I didnt crave much.
It’s the evenings that are hardest. I am going to try and keep busy
and keeep going. Smoking isnt an option.Just hdd my first craving of
the day. I always find them realtively short lived, but nasty little
things.
One of the trickiest things is remembering that I dont smoke
anymore…it’d be too easy to just respond to a craving my
going “ahh, ok, now it’s time to smoke..”
I’ve quite a few times bfore, obviously none of them too
successfully. The best was 7 months. That was 2 years ago.
I am excited about getting through the worst first few days / weeks,
but also a bit nervous opbviously. I hate the feeling of depression
the cravings give you…and thats prob the bit i’m most scared of.

Thats the bit I find hard to deal with. But with deep breaths and
just by “getting on with it”. I think I will be just fine.

    Hi Star,
Somehow I missed your post earlier and only just saw it. Welcome to
the group and congratulations on taking the step to quit.

That’s the smoking habit… your established automatic response
to a craving. But I disagree with you that it’s “one of the
trickiest” parts of the quit, I think it’s THE trickiest. Suddenly
there’s a craving and it seems that the only options are smoke or
don’t smoke. Or deep breath and ‘get on with it’.
What is it you do when you’re “getting on with it”? What sort of
distractions, activities, responses do you have for getting on?
I hope you’ll post and tell us about your quit. We may have some
    ideas for dealing with cravings.
Good to have you with us,
    Steve

    Star,
Are you using any NRT? Just curious as it has a lot to do with what
you can expect physically/mentally/emotionally through the next week or two.
