Just another day….

When I first met Steve back in 2000, he had been quit for around 4.5
years. I thought that was amazing. I couldn’t for the life of me
understand why he wasn’t excited about it, each time he reached a big
milestone of yet another year quit. I recall he said that ok, it was
an achievement, but that it really was ‘just another day’.
And now I find myself in a similar place, 6 yrs and a few days quit
later - and my 6 year quit anniversary was ‘just another day’. I
understand now (and for a very long time, in fact) what he said to me
all those years ago. Thats where a cogquit is different - there’s no
desperate need to ‘hang on’ and watch quitmeters tick over until you
can say ‘phew, I made it !!’ Not smoking simply becomes a new way of
life.
I’d like to shout a ‘woo hoo !!’ or two - not for 2190′ish days and
goodness knows how many days, hours, minutes and seconds quit, but
for having been shown by Steve how to quit cognitively and

comfortably, and gain tools that have helped me live my life very
differently :-) To the new quitters and anyone sitting on the fence - give
cogquitting a good try out, follow the programme as Steve sets out,
and take advantage of the direction he will give you - you’ll almost
certainly be in the same place as we are (along with many other
cogquitting ‘old timers’) months and years down the line… if you do
the work ;) Pam

    Pam,
Congratulations on 6 yrs (and a few days) quit :) It’s so very true that there’s no “phew, I made it!!” element to an
anniversary when some one has quit cognitively. I think, instead,
there’s a huge sense of satisfaction in having dealt so completely
and comfortably with something that ruled our lives and seemed so
beyond our contol for so many years. Well done to you, really well done.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you’ve done
for the group in general and cog quitters individually over the
years. Truly, it’s valued and appreciated.
    Steve
