Hello: New to the group

August 26th, 2007

Hello everybody,
I am a light smoker but I have been smoking for a long time. I want to
get over my dependence on nicotine before it gets way too difficult to
handle.
Thank you.

Hello ALL

August 25th, 2007

Hello,
I have been a silent observer on this group for years now (1-2). I am
just now deciding to quit and have been cigarette free for a week. As
to why is a long story, but I have finally truly got into the mindset
that I can quit and that I WANT to quit.
I just want to thank everyone for being yourselves and giving me a
voice in the darkness that says “people quit smoking, look at them”.
Good luck to all and to me.
Thanks,
Mike
I will be in touch.

I need help on quitting smoking. My quit date is June 15th,2007 and I

is making it harder. I have the patch and my husband smokes too so I
think when the 3 packs are gone thats it but Im addicted big time and
I dont have the postive support and mind that to know I can do it
again. Had gone over 77 hrs. and when I got home from the Hospital
back in March I went back to smoking yeck I feel off the wagin so to

Finished Training and ready to become a non smoker (again!!!!)

August 24th, 2007

Hi Steve and rest of group
Well I’m back from training - totally exhausted but the good news is
that I did find me a moment when I could write out my foundation
statement and also read some of the stuff I had printed off out of
the files.
I’m off to bed now - ready for a good night’s sleep and tomorrow
begins my journey of being a non smoker - well at least it started
earlier today but we will see how foggy brain and all the other stuff
affects me.
Remembering back to last time it took me ages to ‘get the message’
that you were giving Steve, but I’m hoping that I haven’t been back
smoking too long to forget it and am positive that I have enough
belief in the way ‘Warren’ works to give me the tools that I need to
make this a successful quit.
So goodnight from New Zealand and probably good morning to the rest

I do not smoke.

August 23rd, 2007

3 days 4 hours 54 minutes.
I am using Chantix.
I also am monitoring my body/emotions
for cues, journalling and working on
my very serious problem of negative
self-talk.
I have slept a lot the last 3 days.

‘every stressful situation in life’ vs about 6 ‘body cues’

August 22nd, 2007

You smoked for a lot of years.
Think back and list all the situations, times, places, people, and
things that would have sent you reaching for a cigarette. While you’re
at it, see if you can include a few that you know will happen in the
future, you just don’t yet know exactly when.
If that’s when you smoked, then you need to think ahead and prepare to
do something different in each of those situations. Otherwise, you may
get caught off guard. (You know, the nicodemon is always waiting to get
you so you better think ahead and be prepared. :) How difficult do you think it might be to:
1- think about all the different things that would/could stress you or
upset you in some way and then
2- change your smoking habit i.e. figure out what you’ll do instead of
smoke when each of those situations occur.
If you’re going to look outward at life and try to head off smoking by

New quit date

August 21st, 2007

I wrote once before, I forget how long ago but I never followed thru
now I have picked a new quit date my 16th wedding anniversary as a
present to my husband, but I am so scared of not being able to follow
thru with my commitment. We have been together 19 years. He is a
quitter but he only smoked for 6 years and now only has an
occassional cigar on special occassions (maybe 3 or 4 a year) He is
a man of tremendous self control and I am so afriad of letting him
down. I also have a 15 yr old daughter (the last of 5, MY OOPS baby)
and I want to be around to see her children.(I already have 6 soon to
have 7 grandchildren ages 10 to O) I have already been diagnosed with
early stages of COPD/Emphysema/Asthma and take Advair twice a day.
Each and every day I feel the ache in my chest each time I light up,
I know when I smoke the most (reading or spending time alone or doing
stuff for others.) I know if I keep busy with many projects or
chores I forget about smoking, but then it suddenly is time for a
